Fortedur WET
Screeds for concrete floors
Fortedur WET is a uniquely designed dry powder mix combining graded hard aggregates, special cements, and compatible chemical ingredients that modify its mechanical properties and workability. The aggregates are mostly graded silica sand, sintered oxides, metallic aggregates. The quality of the dry mix, which is primarily determined by its abrasion resistance, is chosen according to the intensity of operations and the required load.
Floors modified in this fashion are found mainly in production and storage facilities, wholesale centers, logistic centers, or in parking areas.
They are especially good in places that require high resistance to abrasion and impact. Anywhere there is a need for a system with a durable, smooth and solid surface, which is not naturally slippery and has increased resistance to seepage from oil and grease.
Did you know?
Laying down concrete at low temperatures shows that the hydration of cement slows down at less than +5°C and practically stops below freezing point. It’s really about temperature. The lower it is, the longer it takes the concrete to cure. The temperature should be at least 5 degrees. Below the freezing point and the concrete starts to degrade.

Colorfulness of insolence
Floors with dry mixes are primarily done in a natural gray color (the color of concrete). The mixed layer can be dyed to a selected color shade based on the requirements of the customer. The final color of the floor is always a combination of the color of the dry mix with shades of gray.

Application to concrete
Evenly apply the cement-based dry mix to the surface of the concrete slab. In the event the concrete floor requires renovation, we recommend proceeding with the application in accordance with the method “Application for dry concrete”. In the opposite case, for new floors, we recommend the procedure “Application for wet concrete”.
Applying a wet mix to wet concrete
A highly durable floor finish is the result of the final treatment of a freshly laid concrete slab, which is part of a monolith. This finish is created by applying a dry mix containing special types of cement, aggregates and chemical additives.
This is a modern way of increasing the mechanical and aesthetic properties of the surface of concrete floors by spreading a suspended mixture on a drying, mostly even and compact surface to the prescribed thickness. This method is called “wet-on-wet”. The surface is then smoothed using rotary trowels according to the gradual hardening of the surface. The result is a monolithic floor structure that has superior abrasion resistance, excellent impact resistance, high compressive strength, a uniform color and dust-free surface.
How does the installation
Applying a wet mixture to dry concrete
In the event a wear layer is being prepared for concrete floors that already have high operating loads, it is useful to apply the Fortedur system to extend the life of the floor, to increase its durability and limit the dust arising from the original concrete substrate.
Prior to the actual application, it is necessary to rid the concrete surface of any loose parts, dirt, and where the issue is the smoothness of the surface or local unevenness, roughen and even out the surface (milling). The prepared surface must be saturated with water as intensively as possible. It’s necessary to prevent dry areas from forming or the creation of puddles. Fortedur 1091 is applied to the soaked surface, followed by a layer of Fortedur Wet using the “wet to dry” method, where the dry screed mix is continuously mixed with the required amount of water or in a mixer with forced circulation, and Fortedur Wet is evenly spread with a squeegee on the surface of the concrete slab. After the screed solidifies, the surface of the screed is smoothed using rotary disk trowels. The surface is then mechanically smoothed with the rotary machine using combination and final trowels, which ensures a high degree of the final physical modification.
Recommendations for application
- Concrete floors with skim coats can only be done under the right climatic conditions.
- Surface and outside temperature should be between +5 to +20°C and a relative humidity of 50-90%.
- The working area must be void of drafts, direct sunlight on the surface and water running on the floor.
- A load-bearing concrete slab must be made of high-quality concrete
